The draw for the Europa Conference League quarterfinals has taken place, setting up some intriguing matchups between some of Europe's top teams. Aston Villa, who finished atop Group E, will face French side Lille in the last 16, while Ajax, the four-time European Champions, will meet Union Berlin.
The first leg matches will take place on April 11th, with the return legs scheduled for the following week. The winners of each tie will advance to the semifinals, which will be played on May 11th and 18th.
Other notable matchups in the quarterfinals include Fiorentina vs. Viktoria Plzen, West Ham United vs. Anderlecht, and Villarreal vs. Hajduk Split.
The Europa Conference League is the third-tier European club competition, behind the Champions League and Europa League. It was established in 2021 to provide more opportunities for clubs from smaller countries to participate in European competition.
